My Baby isn't a Baby any more......He's a Big Boy!

Today was Jordan’s first day of Kindergarten! I can’t believe that this day came so soon…it seems like just yesterday he was a newborn preemie who couldn’t fit in preemie clothes and now he’s a kindergartner!!! Where did the time go?

Last night while he was sleeping the “1st Day of school Fairy” came and decorated the dining room to send Jordan off to school the right way, with lots of decorations and balloons. When he came in the dining room his little eyes lit up, “Who did this?” “The fairy came and did this for me??? Awesome! Did she come while I was sleep? Awww I wanted to say hi to her!” I explained that the fairy comes every year the night before the first day of school so that she can wish you good luck…..

He ate a very big breakfast of pancakes, eggs, bacon and fruit! While we were eating I read the first day of school card that I bought him. His response, “Ohhhh Mommy! That’s the bestest most sweetest card I’ve ever heard. Thank You” Jordan is so over dramatic!

After breakfast, he got dressed for his Big Day! Jordan was determined to wear a Spiderman shirt on the 1st day of school to match his back pack and lunch pail! It took forever but I finally found two of them at JC Penney’s this Saturday….everywhere I went they either didn’t have them or there weren’t any left in his size! He even insisted on wearing his new Spiderman underwear! After he got dressed we went outside so I could get some pictures but he was getting impatient to go plus he was tired of taking pictures! On the way to school he ate an apple and some yogurt; I guess the kid was hungry!

Finally we get to school, I park the car and I walk Jordan across the street to the playground. Jordan was not nervous at all; in fact he couldn’t wait to put his stuff down in line so he could play on the playground! I convinced him to stick around so he could meet more of his classmates, get his name tag and take a picture with his teacher. By that time his two “new bestest friends”, from his Saturday play date, showed up, they greeted each other with HUGE hugs like they hadn’t seen each other in YEARS!

Jordan stood around talking and playing with his friends until the final bell rang. Once the bell rang he got in line with his friends, Dominic’s dad told Dominic to take look out for Jordan and that they both should be good….They said okay, waved, said bye and walked in line to their classroom with the rest of the kids, not once looking back! Jordan is the shortest and youngest in his class…his back pack is bigger than him, and there he went…no fear, no hesitation!

Of course after that I cried like a baby and couldn’t stop! The school put on a Boo Hoo/Whoo Hoo breakfast for the Kindergarten parents. We all went to the cafeteria, ate breakfast, talked with each other and cried together!

I’ve been counting down the time until I can go pick him up and hear all about his first day!!!
